The Original Tacconelli’s Pizzeria

July 31, 2010
Tomato Basil

First off, I am alive.

Sorry guys, a combination of me being busy/blog-lazy and internet issues = minimal posting this past week.  I am currently down the shore relaxing and back in blogging action!

Wednesday, I ran 8 miles in 1 hour, 14 minutes.  This is the farthest I’ve run since the Broad Street Run, woo!!  Then I joined a few friends for my second Tacconelli’s experience.  It was even better than I remembered!  The first time I went with my dinner club, World Order of Pasta.  That night, we ordered 25 different topping combinations between 40 of us and I was slightly overwhelmed.  Whoever had been ‘garlic salting’ the white and veggie pizzas that night was heavy-handed and I only enjoyed the meat/red pizzas (the ones not served with garlic powder).  Wednesday was much better overall!

I highly recommend Tacconelli’s.  I almost don’t want to blog about it for fear that once all of you try it I’ll never be able to get a reservation.  Kidding.  Seriously, hands-down one of my top pizza picks in Philadelphia.  The restaurant is BYOB and you have to reserve your dough by calling in advance.  Yep, you need to make a dough-ervation at Tac’s!  It is also BYO salad, appetizers, and dessert, if you so choose.  They serve pizza and pizza only.

plenty of wine and good company :)

all the gals!

I thought our pizzas were perfectly seasoned this time around.  We ordered 6 pies and requested them ’well-done’ aka slightly crispier than how they are normally served.  2 margherita, 2 pepperoni, a sausage, and a tomato basil.  YUM.  They took their sweet time serving us (there’s only one guy working the oven) but it was well worth the wait.

The goods:

Margherita

Pepperoni

Tomato Basil

Sausage

Super thin crust.  Lots of sauce.  Just the right amount of cheese.  It doesn’t get any better!

some favorite people!

And of course, I took home leftovers. I had to fight lauren for them ;)

Looks good, but is the cheese under the sauce? If so, we could never eat there. My sauce-a-phobic kids would protest.
